Dojo Weekly Summary (Nintendrone)

Monday: "Co-op Events"
Events are playable with more than one person at a time now. Players will work on the same team and co-op event mode may contain many different events than those found in single player. We still don't know how many events there are.
What we learned:
  • "This time, Event matches can be played in two-player mode!"
  • There are fewer events than in single player events.
  • Coin battles are back (+bills)
  • Co-op targetsmash confirmed.
Grade: A

Tuesday: "Mother: Porky's Theme", "Frigate Orpheon"

Mother gets some musical love and Metroid gets a stage. The music is oddly nostalgic. The stage has a hazard. It rotates around the parasite queen in her gigantic test tube thing, and occasionally gravity flips after power outages...really all this update did was make me want a Mario Galaxy stage and Ridley. At least as a boss.
What we learned:
  • "Prime" series has been acknowledged.
  • This game has a lot of Mother 3 crap. (Which is good.)
Grade: B

Wednesday: "Team Healer"
An item is revealed! Tuesday's update had us gasping, because not only did we get an unusually lacking update, but it brought forth new strategy. Team Healer is basically this awesome orb that heals whoever gets hit by it. Quite handy in team mode.
What we learned:
  • Team Healers only appear in Team Battle.
  • The more damage you have, the more you get healed.
  • Still Red, Green, and Blue.
Grade: C

Thursday: "Kirby's Special Moves"

Kirby's neutral B move is shown off. If it weren't for the awesome different forms they showed, and the giveaway of Dedede's neutral B, this update would suck, thankfully, Sakurai has got that covered.
What we learned:
  • Multiple Kirby outfits.
  • Snake Kirby > You.
  • Dedede's neutral B is inhale.
Grade: C

Friday: "Subspace Emissary Movie"
Awesome. Not only does this movie eerily sync (even the Japanese one) with the 300 trailer, but it somehow morphs recycled footage into fresh awesomesauce.
What we learned:
  • Bowser has a trophy gun.
  • Meta Knight and Ice Climbers team up in Subspace.
  • Lucas has a role in Subspace.
  • New Polygon Fighters/Wireframes are NOT Primids.
Grade: B

Serebii Crushes Brawl Roster Rumor

Remember that Prima Guide leak?

Yeah.

Untrue.

Serebii has stated on a forum, which I won't name due to possibility of floodular based death, that the roster is inaccurate.

Hey, I trust the guy.

Brawl News: Brawl roster to be revealed on the 15th of December.

Via CoroCoro, the same people who report exclusive information on other games such as Pokemon months before release.

We don't know yet if this means that we'll get a confirmation of the starting roster, or the entire roster, but it should help clarify a lot of things, and possibly even crush our previous rumor of a roster leak.

" The article states that CoroCoro Comics have announced that all characters will be revealed alongside an issue of the CoroCoro Comics magazine (in a separate booklet) on December 15. But the article then states that CoroCoro might just be showing all of the starting characters, not the secret characters. This means that by December 15, we'll either get the full roster from CoroCoro comics, or they'll just give the starting roster, which will probably be on the Dojo prior to the magazine's announcement. "

Wii Are Legion? (Blog, Nintendrone)

--Wii Are Legion: Why Wii may be the best console ever, if some things happen.--

Nintendo hopes to have shipped 17.5 million units by the end of their fiscal year. Not so far-fetched, Nintendo has somehow found the right path to do so. If it ends up being the case, many truths will come about that are worth noting.

By the end of 2006, which is the year that the Wii launched, the Gamecube was reported as having sold about 22 million consoles.

...by the end of October, the Wii has sold over 13 million units worldwide. This means that in less than one year on the market, the Wii has closed in on the Gamecube's sales throughout its entire lifetime. Not only that, but it already holds the record for the fastest selling home console of ALL TIME.

Many argue that this is just a passing fad, but if some trends start, and others continue, the Wii can maintain that record and shatter all others. The Wii has the steam now...but can it follow the course?

The Gamecube had trouble maintaining steady sales because it lacked steady flow of software. Nintendo, at that point, was basically running on all first-party software. This lead to a few things happening.

1) Nintendo has become efficient enough at producing software that they could "almost" maintain a console on its feet by itself.

2) The room for third party developers to profit on a Nintendo home console, has been significantly diminished.

It is now the end of 2007 and it seems that most of Nintendo's main weapons have already been pulled out. Zelda, Mario, and Metroid have already hit the scene. Sure they still have plenty of "core" franchises to keep pushing out, but at the cost of what? Another drought? If Nintendo wants the Wii to emerge as the winner by the end of this generation, they're going to need the help of third parties, and soon.

(...to be continued)
